As a charity that works in partnership with many Catholic sisters around the world, we were saddened to learn of the death of Pope Francis. Our CEO Martin Foley said:
"Arise gives thanks for the moral vision and crucial leadership Pope Francis displayed in the global fight against modern slavery. We are inspired by Pope Francis' powerful assertion that human trafficking is a crime against humanity.
Arise commits to continuing our work with Catholic Sisters, other frontline groups, governments and civil society to eradicate modern slavery. In doing so we will strive to honour the legacy of Pope Francis and work towards a world without slavery where the dignity of every human being is respected.
May he rest in peace."
