Last Friday (26th August), Arise held the first capacity-building conference for our growing Philippines anti-slavery network.
Above: Anti-slavery advocates from across the Philippines congregate to share anti-slavery experience, strategies, and methods to build up capacity.
Facilitated by Arise Philippines Coordinator, Emmanuele Marie Parra, the conference was attended by 30 advocates from 19 different Filipino organisations engaged in anti-slavery work. The aims of the conference included institution-building guidance and knowledge-sharing around anti-slavery advocacy in general.
Among those speaking were Ma. Cecilia Flores-Oebanda, Founder of Voice of the Free and Arise Trustee, and Sr. Cecilia Espenilla, Prioress General of the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine of Siena (Philippines), and Arise Representative. The Arise Philippines team is very much looking forward to further collaboration and network-building, to raise the capacity of the wonderful organisations Arise is working with across the nation.
